ABOUT RANKLESS

Rankless is an original pre-dystopian, coming-of-age comic following Josh and his allies as they challenge a rigid class system enforced by the high ranking Elites. Rankless explores class and identity in a stylized student society, mixing comedy and satire with heartfelt storytelling and plenty of suggestive innuendo!

Set in a world where rank defines life, Josh — born without a rank? — becomes an unlikely spark of change, accidentally instilling hope...and possibly triggering a universe ending catastrophe!!? WHAT? Expect humor, political satire, love, dramedy, and emotional character arcs across serialized episodes.

CHARACTER INTRODUCTION

Josh Neilson from Rankless Comic
JOSH NEILSON

Unbeknownst to him, Josh Neilson is the — Rankless One — and the main protagonist of Rankless. Josh has a zeal for life, learning, hijinx and adventure. His sense of curiosity often lands him in trouble, and his actions tend to push events forward that hilariously snowball out of control. Overall, Josh is good-natured and goofy. His flaws being he is a wee bit neglected, leading him to make slightly selfish decisions.

DANE MARSTERS

Dane Marsters is Josh's best friend. Dane is a loyal, caring, observant and supportive BFF. Dane finds Josh endearing, and comical-- and admires his spark for life. Dane is a mute (for reasons we cannot get into yet), but this does hold him back. He is smart, and handsome to boot, comes from an affluent family, and is often sought after by the Elites and other high ranking individuals. Dane doesn't see Class, in an ever growing classist society, which can lead to some heated situations.

VR (Virtual Reality X 3000 Headset) is the latest in VR learning technology, complete with all the subjects a growing mind could want (yes, even that!). A part of the mandatory learning program put in place after the Global School closures, VR is a handy and cost effective teaching system....and is definitely not supposed to become self aware, and definitely not supposed to know every single detail about Josh and his family....Wait-- what is going on here?

MARKUS RHEDMOND

Rhed is a mysterious and skilled kid, interested in anything tech related. He seems to have a major fixation on Josh for reasons we are not made aware...What is his connection to Josh? Rhed is easily excitable and loves anything Anime, Korean Girl Bands, pop culture (especially retro stuff and geek culture), believes he is good at spying, and is always thinking about the grander picture. He likes to scheme, tends to get jealous, has little patience, is surprisingly good at acting (role-playing), and unfortunately-- a bit lonely.
